I am a Mexican doing a PhD in Belgium. My research focuses on visual analytics and communication of uncertainty. Mainly, I am interested in supporting non-expert users in everyday decision-making. I also research how augmented reality can enhance the user experience on decision support systems. My doctoral advisor is Prof. dr. Katrien Verbert.
I follow a design-centered approach that includes a scientific focus on a qualitative and quantitative analysis of behavior. I am a teaching assistant of the Data Visualisation course from the Advanced Master of Digital Humanities at KU Leuven.
Visual Analytics studies the representation of information to enable interactive analysis of complex datasets. These representations facilitate a correct interpretation of otherwise intractable data. The uncertain nature of the data can harm the decision-making process. Our project investigates new visualization techniques that can communicate uncertainty to non-experts that have little or no knowledge of data processing.
BigDataGrapes aims to help European companies in the wine and natural cosmetics industries become more competitive in the international markets. It specifically tries to help companies across the grapevine-powered value chain ride the big data wave, supporting business decisions with real-time and cross-stream analysis of very large, diverse and multimodal data sources.
Job seekers consult job openings related to their competences through an automatic matching system. Using data visualization, together with VDAB, we investigate how we can provide more control to job seekers in order to search the job market in a more efficient, targeted way.
The LALA (Learning Analytics for Latin America) project aims to build the local capacity to design, implement and use Learning Analytics tools in Latin America Higher Education Institutions (HEI), with the aid of European Universities, to provide a powerful tool to solve any problem where academic data analysis is necessary.
